Wasnt sure if this would be under reebok banter but ah well, i kinnda want ireland through but with it currently being 2-1 to france on agg. i cant see it happening now.
Would have been nice to see another home nation in the world cup instead of just us all the time.

Would have been nice to see their destiny decided at least fairly. I guess Ireland on the International stage are a bit like us in the Premiership - i.e. ignored completely by officials because "no-one's bothered". Big shame that.

Obvious is a bit of an understatement.

Is there only me who's pleased about this decision? Ok I don't like France but I'm glad they've gone through for two reasons:
1. They're a better team. I want to see all the top teams at the world cup, not average joes like Ireland. I would much rather watch England v France, and see our defence tested in what in my opinion is the best attack any team has to offer.
2. It's IRELAND. They're NOT a 'home nation', they're not part of the UK, and even if they were, who cares? That would probably make them want to go through even less! I would put good money on the majority of Irish supporters celebrating England not making Euro 2008.... so why should we support them?
English and English only. COME ON ENGLAND!

I agree with the 2nd part but over the 2 legs Ireland did deserve to go through but france while Domenech is in charge are no threat what so ever much like the argies arnt whilst Maradona is in charge. Fk em anyway , Come on England!

Out of interest, when did Ireland become a "home nation" ? - they are every bit as foreign as the French

I hate the glory hunting Irish who travel to watch big English clubs rather than support the Irish league. I am happy they won't be at the World Cup

Now we just claim them if they're any good and disown them if they're sh1te or the spud crops fail. Personnally, I feel sorry for the toothless simpletons with eyebrows on their cheeks.

Nice Partridge reference there. For me I don't particularly like Ireland, but I like to see them in the World Cup for the potential rivalry with us, a bit like I don't mind if Scotland qualify - though it is funny seeing them fail each time to try to qualify. It's more that they were cheated out of it though, reminds me of us falling foul of decisions so often just because it's at a big ground - e.g. Ronaldo's pen at OT last season.

Nothing like seeing wales fail every single year for a major competition, why they bother turning up is beyond me.

Well we do get invited to these things, it's rude not to show up. You can clearly see how bad Scottish football is at the moment seeing that we trounced them 3-0.

Why are the irish FA even bothering arguing with this handball from last nite, nothing is going to happen if they do some crappy appeal, it goes on every week in the prem but then again all the irish(man utd) fans normally get the decisions for them so i suppose it makes a change.

If Henry did that against England, he probly wouldn't be able to enter the country again!

It was clear cheating! Anelka dived before the handball to try and win a penalty also. But nothing will/can happen now, still doesn't mean it was fair.
It was harsh on Ireland and all that qualifying they have gone through, winning 1-0 at the Stade de France ruined by cheating.
But then i guess many players in that position would instictively handball it? i dunno. I wasn't around when Maradona cheated against England but if that happened to England last night, every England fan would be well and truly pissed!

Yes it might be instincts, but Henry has built up a Legend reputation around the world over 10 years, when you say Henrys name in the future i will remember him for this spineless handball, not all the wonderfull goals he has scored, if he would of owned up to it straight after he did it (the right thing to do) he would of been a legend for ever. I remember a certain Paulo di Canio against everton, he will be remembered forever for that bit of genius sportsmanship, also ian right when it wasnt a pen against man u and pleaded with the ref.

What a load of crap. For a start he did own up to the handball, and as he rightly stated, it's upto the ref to spot it. Anyone who says they would have owned upto the handball is a bloody liar.

And there in lies the rub: You have a split second if that to make that decision, maybe not even consciously, your team go through to the WorlsdCup finals on this possibly. Now say you wouldn't have done it? It's a "no brainer" as those go getter business type people say.
