Fergie's Financial Warning

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes that football is heading for financial catastrophe and that a "major club" could collapse by overspending.
Yes and hopefully it'll be his team.

The_Gibbon agrees with Ferguson that a big club could face a financial meltdown. The_Gibbon feels that even though Man Utd are in a massive amount of debt, as are Real Madrid and Liverpool, they do all have enough "outside football" revenue and a large enough fan base to support them. Clubs like Chelsea and Man City don't have the world wide support and associated revenue stream that goes with it. If either of their owners decided to call it a day, then they could find themselves in dire, dire strife.
The_Gibbon only needs to remind people that Portsmouth nearly found themselves in administration recently, and were bailed out at the last minute, by another billionaire. Portsmouth are not a big club, but were close to being the first PL club to go into administration. At some point, a truely big club will find themselves no longer being backed by a sugar daddy, and may have to fold/liquidate
The_Gibbon will be interested to see what happens over the next few years. If the "European Super League" that people keep talking about ever happens, then the SKY money will follow that, and leave the rest of the PL behind, we will then potentially see the collapse of several top flight teams, BWFC included.
