Our last home game played only a couple of months ago.

The win guaranteed us (more or less) our Premiership survival.  It was also the match when Diouf scored his last - and oh so important - goal for us.

Sluffys Date's gives you Diouffy's farewell goal - ironically against his new club!

Premiership - Bolton 2-0 Sunderland - 3rd May, 2008

El Hadji Diouf threw his shirt into the crowd, Ali Al Habsi proudly unfurled the national flag of Oman and Roy Keane prepared to launch into full-on rant mode.

The final whistle had just blown, Bolton were in effect safe from relegation and various challenges preoccupied three minds. While Diouf signalled his desire to depart the Reebok, Gary Megson's outstanding Omani goalkeeper celebrated rising to an unexpected opportunity and Sunderland's manager seethed at the manner in which his players had failed a basic test.

El-Hadji Diouf won't be talked out of quitting Bolton - but he will find the exit door barred by boss Gary Megson until the price is right.

You had to rub it in didn't you!  Grin

That day he played as he should have done in every game. Too often his talents were wasted but that day he was brilliant, capped by a superb goal.

I for one am sad to see him go and hope he doesn't keep up his goalscoring record AGAINST us when he returns!  Wink

Im not sad too see him go as by moving to sunderland he's shown a complete lack of ambition and is only in the game for the money. I know its the case with most players but a few months back he was spouting loads of stuff about top european clubs so once he realised that none of them wanted him or that he might have to actually work to get into a big team he's just moved for the money instead.

He was great in that sunderland game but it was one of the few games in which he was and if this season was going to be the same, id much rather have someone in the team who is going to perform every week, or near enough anyway.

So yeah, its thanks diouf, and bye!
