Bolton have completed the signing of defender Gary Cahill from Aston Villa.

The 22-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at the Reebok and has joined for an undisclosed fee.

Speaking on his latest recruit, Wanderers boss Gary Megson believes the former England Under 21 international has a bright future ahead of him.

"He is a player I have admired for a long time," Megson told the club's official website. "It is fantastic news that he has agreed to join Bolton.

"Gary is very talented and at 22 years of age has a very, very bright future ahead of him."

After turning down an approach from Birmingham, Cahill was delighted to complete the switch.

"It is the right move for me to come to Bolton," said Cahill.

"I had a look around their set-up and met with the manager and Chairman, and I was impressed with what I saw and heard."

Of what we saw on Saturday, seems like a good signing. Made a lot of good clearances but then again, it was against Reading. Looking forward to seeing him a bit more.

Wasn't at the game but heard he was outstanding at the back. Him and A O'Brien kept Lita and Kitson quiet and didn't hear much mention of Doyle.
