Mods, I know running a message board is tricky and largely governed by the software you choose, but it seems to me a lot of the recent issues could be solved by having an "ignore user" function.

That way, if I didn't want to read comments from certain folks, I could simply choose to ignore any posts they make. So unless someone quotes them, I'd never even see their post.

That would make me really happy.

The only thing like that which comes with this sort of board is under "Profile -> Personal Message Options". You can ignore a user, but to the best of my knowledge this only applies to PMs, hence the title of the link.

There is supposed to be a new version of our boards coming out soon which I hear does have this feature, but they've promised this for the last 6 months so I wouldn't hold my breath!

One doesn't need technology to ignore something, this can simply be achieved with basic mind control

Would it not be a bit strange though reading a thread and seeing people reply to something that was posted by a user you've chosen to ignore, so under your settings people would be replying to nothing at all? There's a few posters I get a bit tired of reading about and it's quite easy just to gloss over the dross if you will.
