With many thanks to DSB for bringing this date to my attention.

Six years ago this very day most of us were glued to the telly watching the World Cup, England were about to play Brazil in two days time - and we were favourites - but Big Sam (whatever happened to him?) had other things on his mind -  Sluffys Date's give you -

18th June, 2002 - The day we signed Okocha!

wow, id completly forgotten about that day, but now i can remember it now like it were yesterday, cheers sluffy. I heard it on radio in car with me dad and he just looked at me and said "bloody hell, thats unbelievable". I didnt know too much about him, think i would have been 9, but id seen some of him in world cup and was really excited by him, easy to see why now.

great vid too, brings back some top times. Nice to see someone in a bolton shirt lifting a piece of silverware too, even tho i cant even remember what it was, somat in asia wernt it?

Doubt we'll ever see anyone so skillful at the reebok again, so good they named him twice, i suddenly have a burning ambition to dig that t-shirt out now.

Cheers Sluffy.

It's a shame age caught up with Okocha in the end but on his day it was worth getting a ticket just to see him.

Will never forget his goals against West Ham and Villa at the Reebok, along with Djorkaeff, up there with the best of all time at our club.

BTW, the trophy he was lifting is the 2005 Premier League Asia Trophy. We beat Man City on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the semi's and then beat the Thai U23 side 1-0 in the final if i recall correctly.
